Cookie Policy

What cookies we use, why, and how to manage your preferences.

Last updated: 17 September 2026

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — for example, that you are logged in — so you do not have to re-enter it each time.

We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage for the same purposes.

2. Cookies We Use

We group them into three categories:

Essential cookies

These are necessary for the Platform to function and cannot be switched off. They include:

  • Authentication session — keeps you logged in between page loads (set by Supabase).
  • Cookie consent preference — stores your cookie choice so we do not show the banner on every visit.
  • Language — remembers the site language you chose.
  • Cart — keeps the courses in your cart until you check out.
  • Checkout — Paddle sets cookies needed to complete a payment securely when you open checkout.

Functional cookies

These remember small choices and your progress in your browser, so the Platform works the way you left it. They are stored on your device only.

  • Exercise progress — your answers in an exercise, so they are still there when you come back.
  • UI preferences — e.g. dismissed tips and banners, or your word translation display choice.

Analytics cookies

These help us understand how visitors use the Platform and how well our ads work. They are only set if you choose "Accept all".

  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics — page views, navigation paths and feature usage.
  • Meta Pixel — whether a visit from one of our ads led to a sign-up or a purchase.
  • Vercel Analytics — aggregated page views, without cookies that identify you.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some third-party services we embed may set their own cookies. We have no control over these cookies; please refer to those providers' own policies:

  • Supabase — authentication infrastructure.
  • Vercel — hosting and performance optimisation.
  • Paddle — checkout and payment processing.
  • YouTube (Google) — lesson videos are YouTube embeds, and YouTube may set its own cookies when a lesson with a video is opened.
  • Google and Meta — analytics and advertising cookies, only with your consent.

4. Managing Your Preferences

When you first visit the Platform, a cookie consent banner gives you the choice to accept all cookies or essential cookies only. You can change your choice at any time:

  • Clear this site's data in your browser to see the banner again and make a new choice.
  • Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies — note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying logged in.

5. Cookie Retention

Essential session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies (such as your consent preference) are stored for up to 12 months, after which you will be asked again.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when we add or change the cookies we use. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes.
